Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is a natural and proven technique designed to unblock and direct energy flow. It is a gentle and non-invasive method that strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
We are alive because life energy or ki is flowing through us. The free and balanced flow of ki is the cause of health. When we have any sort of ailment (physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual) our energy doesn’t flow as well or becomes disrupted and diminished, and we do not feel as good. A Reiki treatment helps wherever one needs it. It can be used as a tool for stress reduction as well as help heal more serious ailments. Reiki is used in over 800 hospitals across the U.S. As a part of hospital care.
Reiki is administered through the hands of a Reiki practitioner with the client lying fully clothed on a massage table. Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client’s body and energy field. A session lasts about an hour in length and hand positions are held for about three to five minutes. Clients report it as a relaxing and peaceful experience which promotes well-being and healing. Those who use Reiki regularly often find they are more joyful, lively and their own energy is enhanced. As these improvements develop, the natural process of renewal and removal of toxins is enhanced and rendered more effective, ultimately opening up more of the body to life energy.
Reiki is spiritual in nature; however, it is not a religion, it has no dogma and there is nothing you must believe in to use Reiki.
Nothing. All you need to bring to Reiki Level One is an open-mind and willingness to learn more about Reiki. The Reiki energy is passed on through student to teacher through a process called an attunement. Anyone can learn Reiki; there are no prerequisites. There is no special knowledge or experience necessary to become attuned to the Reiki energy. With this said, it is important that one consider and contemplate this decision.
I’ve heard about Reiki and want to try it but don’t know which to pursue. Listen to your heart. And try a healing session if you’ve never experienced it, it’s a very peaceful and relaxing gift to yourself. Then decide if healing sessions or a class is best for you.
Reiki was developed in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui and was brought to the West in 1937 by Hawayo Takata.
